NALF Presents Medals of Excellence

Attendees at the North American Limousin Foundation (NALF) Member Social on Jan. 13 in Denver, Colo., learned the final standings for the 2007 Medal of Excellence (MOE) show program. The MOE points system gives attention to show-winning animals, their sires and their dams on an annual, calendar-year basis.

With 3,716 points from 102 prize-winning progeny, GPFF Blaque Rulon earned back-to-back gold-medal honors among the breed’s sires for Kervin Cattle Co., Winnfield, La. The silver medal went to Heart Felt Farms, Gettysburg, Pa., and Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla., for LESF Asphalt 9N, which earned 1,463 points from 51 progeny. Express Ranches also took home the bronze medal for the 1,329 points Carrousels Pure Power received from 34 progeny.

In the dams’ point standings, DVFC Monica 136H, owned by Deer Valley Farm, Fayetteville, Tenn., and Massey Limousin, London, Ky., won the gold medal with 568 points from five progeny. With 548 points from eight progeny, MAGS Manda earned the silver medal for Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo., and DJ Limousin, Port Orchard, Wash. The bronze medal went to Martin’s Loveable Limousin, Dexter, Kan., for DVFC Heidi 302K’s 424 points from three prize-winning progeny.

More than 200 purebred Limousin bulls earned MOE points in 2007. The gold-medal winner was DVFC Sitting Bull, owned by Deer Valley Farm and P&D Ranch, Grandview, Texas, with 337 points from nine shows. Magness Land and Cattle; Lawrence Family Limousin, Anton, Texas; Kervin Cattle Co.; and Lance Hall Cattle Co., Sweetwater, Texas, shared the silver medal for the 246 points that DHVO Deuce 132R earned at five shows. Claiming the bronze with 232 points from five shows was EXLR Rodeo Drive 743R, owned by Tubmill Creek Farms, New Florence, Pa., and Express Ranches.

The list of purebred Limousin females with 2007 MOE points included more than 700 head. The gold-medal winner, with 276 points from eight shows, was DVFC Outcast 924R, owned by Deer Valley Farm and Counsil Family Limousin, Madisonville, Texas. The silver medal went to JCL Heidi 2S, owned by Wies Limousin Ranch, Wellsville, Mo., with 217 points from 10 shows. EXLR Luvly 608S had 276 points from five shows, earning the bronze medal for Express Ranches and Summers Limousin, Independence, Mo.

In the first year Lim‑Flex® animals received MOE points, about 20 of the hybrid bulls made the list. The gold medal went to EF Smack Down 764S, owned by Austen Etherton, Dawson, Ill.; Magness Land and Cattle; and Counsil Family Limousin with 165 points from five shows. Express Ranches and Spring Creeks Cattle Co., Wauzeka, Wis., shared the silver medal that EXLR Review 273R earned with 159 points from four shows. Claiming the bronze with 130 points from four shows was EXLR Right Of Way 177R, owned by Tubmill Creek Farms and Express Ranches.

Among the 90 Lim‑Flex females on the 2007 MOE list, 167 points from five shows earned the gold medal for EXLR Ms Touch 026S, owned by Express Ranches and Diehm Family Limousin, Kendallville, Ind. The silver medal went to MAGS Snickers, owned by Kelvin Moreno, Venus, Fla., for 115 points from three shows. MAGS Rose Petal had 103 points from four shows, earning the bronze for Etherton.
