Arkansas Limousin Junior Receives Award of Excellence
The North American Limousin Junior Association (NALJA) recognized Kameron Sullivan, Prairie Grove, Ark., with its Award of Excellence during the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress (NJLSC) in West Monroe, La. The presentation was part of the NALJA awards banquet July 27.
The $750 cash prize recognizes demonstrated, hands-on experience with Limousin cattle; proven excellence in breed activities; leadership skills; and the ability to set and achieve worthy goals.
Sullivan, 20, joined both the Arkansas Junior Limousin Association and NALJA in 1999. He has 53 head in his Limousin inventory, including 12 bred-and-owned bulls and 19 bred-and-owned females. A student in animal science at the University of Arkansas, he plans to earn a degree in veterinary medicine and continue producing Limousin cattle.
“Kameron Sullivan is an outstanding young man who demonstrates a high level of responsibility, exemplary character and work ethic in all that he does,” said David Hays, agricultural education instructor at Prairie Grove High School. “I believe he has tremendous potential for success at anything he chooses to do.”
Fred Pohlman, associate professor of animal science at the University of Arkansas, also recommended Sullivan for the award, saying “Kameron has developed into a true cattleman but continues to strive to learn and to improve his herd, skill and science used in beef cattle production.”
The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Centennial, Colo., provides programs and services – including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires – to nearly 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim‑Flex® hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
