NWSS Includes 38 Limousin, Lim-Flex Pens, Carloads
The National Western Stock Show (NWSS) Limousin and Lim-Flex® pen and carload shows were Jan. 10 in Denver, Colo. Judges Dan Dorn, Minden, Neb; Mike Hall, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and Lee Pritchard, Crowley, Texas, evaluated 20 pens of Limousin bulls, six carloads of Limousin bulls, five pens of Lim-Flex bulls and – for the first time ever – six pens of Lim-Flex females.
The grand champion carload of Limousin bulls came from Wulf Limousin Farms, Morris, Minn. The eight head had an average birthdate of May 8, 2005; an average weight of 1,849 pounds; and an average weight per day of age (WDA) of 3.02 pounds. Sires represented in the group were Wulfs Nasa 1212N, Wulfs Nascar G949N, Wulfs Napoleon 1018N, Mr SYES Gentleman 118M, Wulfs Joel 6010J and ELOR Ole’s Black Gold 606.
The reserve champion carload of Limousin bulls came from Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo. The 10 head had an average birthdate of Feb. 2, 2006; an average weight of 1,170 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.42 pounds. Sires represented in the group were EF Main Stay 541M, GPFF Blaque Rulon, EXLR New Generation 071M, Carrousels Pure Power, Wulfs Fanfare 4055F and Carrousels Nasdaq.
The People’s Choice champion carload came from Coleman Limousin Ranch, Charlo, Mont. The 10 head had an average birthdate of Feb. 27, 2006; an average weight of 1,180 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.72 pounds. COLE Black Tank 24P and COLE Magnum 15M sired the group.
The grand champion pen of three Limousin bulls came from Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla. Coming from Division 1, the pen had an average birthdate of Sept. 24, 2005; an average weight of 1,612 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.41 pounds. Sires represented in the group were LESF Asphalt 9N and AUTO Black Dakota 129J.
The reserve grand champion pen of three Limousin bulls, which also was the People’s Choice champion, came from Magness Land and Cattle. Coming from Division 3, they had an average birthdate of May 6, 2006; an average weight of 888 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.57 pounds. GPFF Blaque Rulon and Carrousels Pure Power sired the group.
The grand champion pen of three Lim-Flex bulls came from Magness Land and Cattle. They had an average birthdate of May 10, 2006; an average weight of 942 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.84 pounds. BR Midland sired the entire group out of MINE PLD Queen Sheba9006J and MAGS Marquee.
The reserve grand champion pen of three Lim-Flex bulls came from Lewis Limousin Farms, Iliff, Colo. They had an average birthdate of Feb. 10, 2006; an average weight of 1,198 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.59 pounds. Sires represented in the group were JCL Lodestar 27L and GPFF Blaque Rulon. Dams represented were AMEN Wendys Lass 380 and AMEN Erica Lass 407.
In the first-ever Lim-Flex female pen-of-three show, the grand champion came from Magness Land and Cattle. They had an average birthdate of March 22, 2006; an average weight of 877 pounds; and an average WDA of 2.98 pounds. BR Midland sired the entire group out of MAGS Lady Ace.
The reserve grand champion pen of three Lim-Flex females came from Sennett Cattle Co., Waynetown, Ind. They had an average birthdate of Feb. 23, 2006; an average weight of 878 pounds; and an average WDA of 2.74 pounds. Sires represented in the group were GPFF Blaque Rulon, EXLR New Generation 071M and EXLR Moderator 053M. Dams represented were EXLR 529H, EXAR Blackbird 5216 and Sennett Blackcap 412P.
